The Dawn Service — At 6am on Easter morning thirty or more enthusiastic early risers from St Mary’s and Palmerston Place Church gathered outside the Cathedral as the new fire of Easter was lit and blessed. The Paschal candle, lit from the fire, was followed into the dark cathedral where the traditional words were chanted: The light of Christ. Thanks be to God. (The April Review and Outlook describes the service in detail)

After the service, breakfast in the Chapter House (coffee, tea, hot cross buns and croissants} and time to chat.

Easter Day and some of the flowers that greeted the congregation at the morning service. The flowers were also there to be enjoyed later by and to those who’d specially appreciate them.
