Care Van

The Care Van is a mobile soup kitchen for the homeless, operated by Bethany Christian Trust and Edinburgh City Mission. The van has been in operation 364 days a year (not during the Hogmanay party) since 1992.

Around 30 Christian groups provide the teams to man the van each night. The Palmerston Place Church team are out once a month, and have about 30 willing helpers (six people are on duty at a time). We leave the church at 8.45pm to be at Waverley Bridge for 9pm. After an hour we tour other known spots, providing the homeless with soup and rolls, tea and coffee. We also have a stock of blankets and old clothes.
